FUNDRAISING FOR THE NEXT ADVENTURE

I don't come from a great action sports family. I have no great feats in the surf/wakeboarding either. I'm a #workingathlete ...

My story is proof that you can get deeep into whatever your passion is by bootstrapping

Unlike most action sports professionals, this is what I grew up doing:

Growing up, I didn't even spend much time in the ocean. I was into:
1. A 2D Game called Maplestory.
2. Marine Biology
3. Making websites like these.

MARINE BIOLOGY

HKU's Marine Biology program encourages travel. I got to see some remote & mind blowingly beautiful places.
And to earn my Bachelor's degree doing it left me with a hunger to work remotely.

A fraction of these adventures were blogged for HKU.

SURF in Hong Kong

I graduated Marine Biology a little disillusioned with academia. At age 21 I discovered surf. It's a sport that reinforces the idea of working remotely. Adventure (through surf) was my reason for becoming a digital nomad.

I live to surf and I work to live. #workingathlete

Home Break

Pic above: BWB Hong Kong

I started surfing in Big Wave Bay, Hong Kong [unlike the name suggests it's an average beachbreak].

Our season is restricted to the winter months barring occasional typhoons like the one in pic above in BWB.

Typhoons in Hong Kong

Pic above: Typhoon Hato

Those who surf in HK will know the waves are of limited quality and our season is restricted to the winter months barring occasional typhoons like the one in pic above in Lantau.

SURF in Taiwan

So I started surfing in Taiwan.

SURF IN INDO

And in Indo.

Fun.

SILVER DRAGON

Known in Chinese folklore as the Silver Dragon, the Qiantang River Tidal Bore is an epic river wave that forms once a year on the full moon, where an abnormal tidal surge gets funneled up its unique rivermouth.

Every year, the Silver Dragon roars up the river and takes lives with it.

"Silver Dragon Shootout is literally the most extreme surf contest in the world. The folk tales of this wave are real, and they surf the legendary silver dragon itself."

The Silver Dragon crew - all legends like the wave itself :)
